What you need to provide staff doing work for you
You must be clear and certain about the employment status of the person doing work for you, to help protect their rights and yours.
Ways you can do this include:
- making sure the day-to-day work they do and how they do it matches with their described employment status as employee, worker or self-employed
- talking with them and any trade union reps about what they expect and what you expect
- putting employment rights and responsibilities in writing – in a contract or ‘written statement’
